Half Day nature Camp for "Little Ones"

Wasis means Little One or Little Owl, and this year we are introducing a camp for those "little owls." This program will focus on building social skills, team participation, sharing, listening, and interactive skills. Camp will run for 3 days, Tues., Wed, & Thurs, beginning each morning at 9 am, ending each day at 1:30 pm. A snack each day at 10 am, and lunch at noon. This is an excellent opportunity for your little owl to experience camping life. Weeks for these little campers are: June 24 - 26 - ages 4 & 5 - $45/child and Sept. 9 - 11 - ages 3 & 4 - $45/child

2008 Summer Camps for Those Aged 8-12 Years

Residential Nature Camp
July 13-18
$175 per camper register by June 30
Campers begin arriving Sunday afternoon at 2 pm, with orientation at 4pm. Campers are grouped by age and are allowed to choose one cabin buddy within twelve months of age. Cabins will be assigned based on the ages of campers registered. Meal service begins Sunday at 6 pm, and ends Friday, at noon. Campers are to be picked up by 1pm Friday. Campers will experience games, activities,hikes, crafts, and swimming. The program will immerse them in nature and help them learn about New Brunswick’s wildlife. The Charlotte County Hunters Education Instructors Association will teach both archery and our 13 furbearers in 2 evenings at this camp. Day Campers are welcome to attend this camp as well, beginning Monday morning, 9 am and ending Friday after lunch, with daily pick ups at 4:30 pm,$120/child, only lunch & snacks included)

NATURE DAY CAMP
August 25 - 29
$120/child register by August 11
This week begins on Monday morning, August 25 and contains the same components as the residential camp. Campers will be invited to stay overnight on August 28th, but it is not a requirement. Evening activities will include archery led by the Charlotte County Hunters Education Instructors Association and a campfire. Meal service begins on Monday at noon, and ends Friday at noon. Daily pick-up is 4:30 pm, except Friday, which is 1pm.

Teen Camps - Register Now!!

Survivor Skills - Ages 12-15
July 2, 3, & 4
$175 per teen register by June 16
Campers will build their own survival kits, practice wilderness safety techniques such as firecraft and shelter building, and experience archery - led by the Charlotte County Hunter Education Instructors Association. We will have one very early morning so that we can particpate in a bird banding project and we will discover local hiking trails, learn how to use a map and compass as well as search out various wildlife and bird species.

Pack-Your-Sack Ages 12-15

What a week! Off we go for a three day excursion to New River Beach Provincial Park. We will camp, hike and explore the marine scene at New River Beach Provincial Park. Teens will experience the amazing trails and animals along the Bay of Fundy coastline... We may even see the ghost that is said to walk the trails!

Archery, Firearms & Trapping - Ages 12-15
July 22, 23, 24, 25
$175 per teen register by July 7
This camp will provide an opportunity for teens to learn outdoor traditional sports. The Charlotte County Hunter Education Instructors Association will help us gain basic skills in archery, firearms, and trapping and may even take us to the Basswood Ridge Range for an evening of air rifle practice. When camp is done everyone will know how to identify the thirteen fur bearering animals of New Brunswick. This is an excellent camp for teens who may be interested in taking the Hunter’s Safety, Trapping, or Bow Courses in the fall.

Travellin’ East - Rock - your -Socks - Off Ages 12-15
July 29, 30, 31, August 1
$250 per teen register by July 14
This camp will be spent preparing for and travelling to Fundy National Park to hike the park’s trails and experience the environment including deer, birds, amphibians, and reptiles. We will also go to Cape Enrage to experience the "spine tingling" sport of rock repelling. While there, we will do some fossil hunting and marsh discovery too.

Travellin’ North - Falls Brook Centre- Ages 12- 15
August 5, 6 & 7
$200 per teen register by July 21
Travellin’ north!! This is a two night camping trip to Knowlesville, NB. Teens will enjoy this trip to Falls Brook Centre, a fascinating spot where on-site activities include solar and wind energy systems, herbariums, tree nurseries, non-timber forest product plantings for mushrooms and ginseng as well as such things as strawbale houses. Teens will also learn how changes to the environment have effects on wildlife and their habitat.

Travellin’ West - Somethings Fishy - Ages 12 - 15
August 19, 20, 21, 22
$200 per teen register by August 4
Camp will begin by learning about the species of fish in the St. Croix River, discovering fishing & canoeing equipment and how to care for it. On Aug. 20, off we’ll go to enjoy a two day, one night canoeing and camping trip on the St. Croix River. We will watch for opportunities to identify the fish species we have learned. We will spend our last night back at Camp Waweig enjoying a campfire that will most likely find all of us laughing at the funny stories we have to tell of our adventures on the St. Croix.

Bike & Hike & Learn - Ages 12-15
September 2, 3, & 4
$250 per teen register by August 18
What a way to end the summer. After registration on Sept. 2nd we will head out with our bikes for a two night camping trip on Grand Manan. We’ll travel the 40 minute ferry, where we’ll have a chance to view marine wildlife. We will visit the Castalia Marsh and its inhabitants and experience nature at her finest. (campers bikes will be inspected at time of registration-must be in good working order)
